Current Status:
Deanna Muise is a tax partner with Kingston Ross Pasnak
Chartered Accountants LLP and has a practice providing
taxation services to the firm’s clients, including
estate and business planning, corporate reorganizations,
working with clients on business purchases and sales and
reviewing corporate and personal income tax issues.

Experience:
Deanna has been practicing in the taxation area for the
past sixteen years.She heads up the Kingston Ross Pasnak LLP
taxation group along with four managers. Deanna has taught
taxation courses to students enrolled in the C.A. program,
marked tax examinations for the Institute of Chartered
Accountants, presented a paper on family succession planning
at the Legal Education Society of Alberta’s 2003 Spring
Conference, guest lectured at the University of Alberta and
presented numerous tax seminars to clients, legal firms,
staff and the general public.
Selected Tax Experience:
Deanna has completed numerous tax plans for clients
including the following:
- Devised a plan to allow the partitioning of land to
facilitate a sale by one of the owners on a tax-assisted
basis.
- Estate planning for individuals to minimize tax on
death and facilitate the introduction of the second
generation.
- Restructuring corporate groups before and after share
and asset sales to reduce and defer taxes on the sale
- Developed a plan to allow a non-profit organization to
develop excess real estate on a tax-free basis through the
use of trusts.
- Completed a large butterfly transaction to allow
ownership of a corporate group to be divided on a
tax-deferred basis between divorcing parties.
- Restructure corporate groups to maximize small business
deductions, creditor proof and crystallize capital gains
exemptions
